CameraLink Battery discharge times

Here’s some discharge information about the SlingStudio CameraLink internal battery

It's very important that you use a USB charger with sufficient capacity with the SlingStudio CameraLink product.

Check your USB charger's label to make sure that it outputs at least 10 watts (normally this is 5 volts with at least 2 amps). The USB charger that comes with the Apple iPad works well, as do some Samsung charger units. The USB charger that comes with the iPhone does not produce enough power, so we do not recommend using it.

If you use a USB charger that outputs less than 10 watts with your CameraLink, you can charge the CameraLink when it's powered off. But you can't stream video with it, as the battery discharges and eventually runs out of power.

In addition, to help you better understand the status of the CameraLink battery when its charge level is low, the CameraLink battery LED behaves in the following ways.

When SlingStudio CameraLink battery charge level is 10 percent or lower:

  • The battery LED glows solid red when the CameraLink is powered off and connected to a USB power supply.
  • The battery LED blinks green when the CameraLink is powered ON and connected to a USB power supply.
