I can’t get SlingStudio to recognize my USB storage device. What can I do?

Here are some tips if you can't get your USB storage device to work with SlingStudio

If you're not able to get your SlingStudio unit to recognize a USB storage device, try these things:

  • While SlingStudio recognizes USB 2.0 devices, for recording you should use a USB 3.0 device with write speeds greater than 40 Mbytes/sec.
  • Try connecting the USB recording device to a PC or a Mac computer to see if it is recognized.
  • If you are using the SlingStudio USB-C Expander product, and you have more than one USB recording device connected to it, you must disconnect all but one of them. SlingStudio can only work with one USB storage device at a time.
  • As a last resort, if the storage device has no valuable data on it, try formatting the device on a Mac or PC computer and connecting again to see if this works.
